CCA will be hosting the World Premiere of First We Bombed New Mexico. Local filmmaker Lois Lipman has been working on this documentary for countless years. It’s finally done and will have four screenings at CCA. The film is about the Downwinders, the Hispanic and indigenous communities whose health was seriously affected by the fallout of the first atomic bomb test at the Trinity site in New Mexico. They have been trying to receive some compensation for what they’ve suffered from the US government for decades without success.
This is a story that was NOT told in Oppenheimer, but one that needs to be told, because it’s such an important issue to the people of New Mexico. It will be shown at CCA on Friday, October 20 at 5:30pm and on Sunday, October 22 at 2:15pm, 5:00pm, and 7:20pm. Filmmaker Lois Lipman will be present at all screenings.
